Men's Bowling Wins Mustang Invite; Gassmann Claims Top Prize
Sioux City, IA – The Hastings College men’s bowling team brought home the championship in both total pins (9112) and the knockout stage at the Mustang Invitational this past weekend.
Sioux City, IA – The Hastings College men's bowling team brought home the championship in both total pins (9112) and the knockout stage at the Mustang Invitational this past weekend.
The Broncos finished with a total pin count of 9112 with Iowa Western finished second with a pin total of 9095.
Hastings then entered bracket play as the No. 1 seed and defeated Morningside to advance to the championship where the Broncos dominated Iowa Western 224-137 in game one and 188-154 in game to for the title.
Winton Gassmann won the individual title with a six game total of 1295. He had high games of 231 and 227 twice to help him win the tournament title and averaged 215.8 per game.
William Wallace finished second overall but was on the junior varsity team as he fired a six game total of 1259. He had high games of 233, 231 and 219 and averaged 209.8 per game.
Paul Baker would finish third on the men's varsity side of things and fourth overall with a six game total 1219 as he averaged 203.2 per game. He had high games of 245, 214 and 213.
Tyler Seeley went on to finish seventh with a six game total of 1202 and averaged 200.3 pins per game. His best game came in game five where he bowled a 248.
Alex Gomez also finished in the top 15 as he finished with a six game total of 1136 for an average of 189.3. His best game came in game one where he bowled a 234.
Hastings will take the rest of the year off and will be back in action Jan. 14 taking part in the Kegel ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic out in Addison, IL.
