Jamestown, ND – The Hastings College women's cross country team picked the best time to run its best race finishing 2nd at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championship meet on Saturday morning that may have just thrust them into qualifying for nationals.
Coming into this meet, Hastings was not even receiving votes but beat out (RV) Northwestern and No. 24 Concordia.

Shania Santos finished seventh in a time of 19:09 while Madison Gerken placed 10th in a time of 19:19. This also means Pinkerton, Santos and Gerken all earn All-Conference honors for placing in the top 15.
Jilee Golus placed just outside All-Conference honors finishing 17th in a time of 19:45 while Elizabeth Baade rounded out the scoring by placing 25th in a time of 20:20. Time will tell on how the rankings will shake out but Hastings certainly has made things interesting as we move into selection week.
Hastings will now wait to see if its season is over or if they have done enough to qualify for nationals as that announcement will come this week.
