Rowe Collects First Place in 2 Events, Dow and Humphrey Each Win Races in Kearney

Senior Jaida Rowe won the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.82, third-best in school history and one hundredth of a second from the B-Standard mark. Also in the 60m hurdles, sophomore Lucy Carey was second with a time of 9.18, tied for ninth-best in school history, while sophomore Ava Reese was fifth (9.44) and senior Kathryn Columbus was eighth (10.71).
Rowe later took home first in the 400m with a B-Standard time of 58.08, which was also third-best in school history, and Carey was third in the event (1:01.67). Rowe (7.93) and Reese (8.02) also reached the finals of the 60m by finishing third and fourth in the prelims. In the finals of the 60m, Rowe took second at 7.98 and Reese was eighth at 8.09.
Junior Grace Dow won the 800m, racing through the finish line at 2:35.91. Freshman Paige Faimon was second (2:46.26) and freshman Claire Noerrlinger was third (2:47.03). In the 600y, freshman Brooklyn Sutter placed sixth with a time of 1:32.48.
In the 200m, freshman Gianna Humphrey raced to first place with a time of 27.83, followed closely by freshman Samara Humphrey in second (28.11) and sophomore Kamerin Turner in third (28.59).
Senior Trinity Doublin finished second in the triple jump with a top mark of 35'05.50". S. Humphrey was third in the event (32'07.00") and freshman Gabryella Bates was fourth (32'03.75"). Turner finished fifth in the long jump with a top mark of 15'05.50". In the high jump, G. Humphrey was 10th, Carey was 11th, and senior Melissa Hines was 12th - all reaching the same height of 4'09.75".
In the shot put, freshman Mattilynn Schroeder was fifth (35'04.50") and freshman Katelyn Strampher was sixth (32'01.00"). Strampher was fifth in the weight throw (40'05.50") and Schroeder was seventh (37'06.00").
Up next, Hastings will compete at the Doane Ward Haylett Invite on Saturday, Jan. 10, beginning at 10am.
