Anderson Breaks Hammer Throw Record; NWU Results
Lincoln, NE – The Hastings College women’s track and field team is hitting its stride just at the right time bringing home some great results from the Prairie Wolf Outdoor Invitational hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan.
Lincoln, NE – The Hastings College women's track and field team is hitting its stride just at the right time bringing home some great results from the Prairie Wolf Outdoor Invitational hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan.
Kiara Anderson not only won the women's weight throw, she won it by breaking the school record with a toss of 56.42m which is 185-01 feet. The previous record was held by Sara Olson at 184-11 feet. Anderson went on to finish third in the discus with a mark of 44.43m. Asia Tyler went on to finish fifth in the shot put with a toss of 13.06m while Anderson finished eighth with a mark of 12.97m.
Trinity Doublin brought home the gold in the triple jump with a leap of 11.22m.
The women's 4x100m relay team made up for a tough meet at Doane by bringing home first place in a time of 48.38 which was over a second better than last week. The team consists of Kya Edwards, Jaida Rowe, Rhys Maxey and Nisa Thomas. Rowe went on to finish third in the 100m hurdles while Maxey place fifth and then Rowe finished fifth in the 100m dash in a time of 12.51 while Edwards finished eighth in a time of 12.56. Maxy would also go on to finish fourth in the 200m dash in a time of 25.75.
Madison Gerken went on to win the 3000m steeple chase in a time of 12:46 while Landry Hinkson finished second in a time of 12:52.
In the 1500m run Veronica Pinkerton brought home the silver in a time of 5:03.
Up next for Hastings is the big event with the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championship Meet will be held May 5-6 out in Sioux Center, IA and will be hosted by Dordt University.
