Eden National Champion in Weight Throw; Pinkerton Breaks School Record
Brookings, SD – The Hastings College women’s track and field team finished up the indoor season by finishing 10th at the NAIA National Indoor Track and Field Championships this past week.
Brookings, SD – The Hastings College women's track and field team finished up the indoor season by finishing 10th at the NAIA National Indoor Track and Field Championships this past week. Hastings finished with 23 points while Indiana Tech won with a team score of 85.
Jessa Eden shocked the world as she broke the 18 meter mark for the first time in her career propelling her to her first national championship by winning the weight throw with a mark of 18.02m. Kiara Anderson finished third with a throw of 17.72m which also earned her All-American honors. Anderson would earn All-American honors as well in the shot put by finishing fourth with a toss of 14.26m which is also a personal best for her.
Veronica Pinkerton went on to break her own school record in the 800m run by finishing seventh in a time of 2:13.25 as her previous record was 2:13.54. She also earned All-American honors for her efforts.
Before the national's event began, Eden was also named the Champions of Character Winner for Hastings College as well.
Hastings will now get ready for the outdoor season which is set to begin Apr. 1 as the Lady Broncos will compete at the Central Nebraska Challenge in Kearney, NE
