Shotgun Sports Takes 3rd at Inaugural Heart Conference Championships
(Lenexa, KS) – The Hastings College Shotgun Sports team took part in the first-ever Heart of America Conference Championships, placing third out of seven teams with 1320 targets. As a team, Hastings was third in trap and fifth in skeet and sporting.

In the Men's HOA Individual, senior Hunter Gilbertson finished third overall with 272 targets out of a possible 300, placing third in sporting with 93 targets, 10th in skeet with 94 targets, and 18th in trap with 85 targets. Senior Hayden Thomason was fifth with 262 targets, taking fourth in trap with 83 targets and eighth in sporting with 88 targets.
Junior Chase Wieczorek placed 12th with 252 targets out, finishing ninth in trap with 90 targets and 15th in skeet with 91 targets. Freshman Davis Davenport was 14th overall with 250 targets, placing 20th in trap. Sophomore Jace Bax was top 15 in trap, taking 13th with 89 targets.
In the Women's HOA Individual, freshman Abbie Blackwell took second in trap, tying for the most targets with 95, and fifth in sporting with 75 targets. Junior Hannah Sears was fifth in skeet and trap with 95 and 88 targets, respectively. Junior Katrice Lyons was sixth in skeet with 92 targets and seventh in sporting with 67 targets.
Up next, the Broncos will head to San Antonio, TX to compete in the ACUI & SCTP Collegiate Nationals from Mar. 16-21.
