Men's Soccer Falls in Overtime of GPAC Quarterfinal
(Seward, NE) – The Hastings Men's Soccer Team competed against Concordia for the GPAC Quarterfinals on Saturday. The game went to overtime after a scoreless 90 minutes. The Bulldogs bested the Broncos in overtime, 1-0, with a goal in the 93rd minute.
(Seward, NE) – The Hastings Men's Soccer Team competed against Concordia for the GPAC Quarterfinals on Saturday. The game went to overtime after a scoreless 90 minutes. The Bulldogs bested the Broncos in overtime, 1-0, with a goal in the 93rd minute.
In the first half Hastings had four shots with two corner kicks. No goals were scored in the first half by either team with both taking four shots.
Sophomore Tim Berger was the leading shot taker for Hastings with two, along with junior Connor Wood and senior David Maqueda recording shots on goal. Junior Till Oppermann also had two saves as goalie in the opening half.
In the second half, Concordia outshot the Broncos 8-5. Senior Wade McWhorter and sophomore Moises Trochez each had shots on goal early in the second half, both being saved by the Bulldog goalkeeper.
Concordia had a couple of shot attempts late in the second half but neither were on goal, sending it to overtime. Concordia scored the first goal of the game in the 93rd minute to get the win. Berger and Wood led Hastings with two shot attemps each and Oppermann had five saves.
The defeat ends the Broncos' season as they look to the 2026 season.
