Broncos Drop Season-Opener to Bellevue
(Hastings, NE) - As the home opener, the Hastings Men’s Soccer team played against Bellevue University. The Broncos narrowly fell short, with the final score being 0-1. There was a slow first half, marked by a lot of back-and-forth action, with great defense by senior Juan Lopez-Arteaga and multiple shot attempts by the Broncos.

(Hastings, NE) - As the home opener, the Hastings Men's Soccer team played against Bellevue University. The Broncos narrowly fell short, with the final score being 0-1. There was a slow first half, marked by a lot of back-and-forth action, with great defense by senior Juan Lopez-Arteaga and multiple shot attempts by the Broncos.
The first half resulted in no scoring by either team. However, Hastings took four shots, but due to the Bellevue defense, they all resulted in no points. Freshman Johnny Pedroza led the team with two shot attempts in the first half.
Pedroza took another shot in the second half, also resulting in no points. Bellevue scored with five minutes left in the game, resulting in the 1-0 victory. Pedroza was the leading shot taker with three shots, while junior Jake Watt had the other attempt.
The Broncos head to Parkville, MO, at Julian Field to play against Park University on Wednesday, August 27th at 3:00 pm.
