Broncos Fall to Pirates 1-0

(Hastings, NE) – Fresh off a five-goal second half in their last game, Hastings came in looking to give the fans an encore performance. The Park Pirates had other ideas, as their 1-0 halftime lead stood as the final score of the match.
The Pirates scored the lone goal of the first half in the 30th minute. Hastings could only muster one shot in the first half from freshman Nikolai Kostal, as Park took 11 shots. It was a physical opening period, with 11 fouls and five yellow cards between the two teams.
Hastings came out firing in the second half, as senior Lewis Albert and junior Alessandro Urlati both missed on shot opportunities early on in the half. Later on, freshman Moises Trochez had a couple of chances, including a header that hit off the crossbar.
The Broncos had one last chance in the 87th minute, but senior Ruben Bande's shot was swallowed up by the Pirates goalkeeper.
In the second half, Hastings controlled the ball most of the second half, taking 12 shots compared to 3 for the Pirates. The Broncos, however, were unable to get any points on the board, falling 1-0.
Hastings will next play at MidAmerica Nazarene in Olathe, Kansas on Saturday, September 7th at Pioneer Field.
