(Hastings, NE) – Hastings College Athletic Director Chris Clements announced today that Luke Cottage has been named as the head men's soccer coach for the Hastings Broncos.
"We are very excited about the addition of Luke to Hastings College and our community. He will be a great addition to our athletic department in helping develop our student-athletes on and off the field," Athletic Director Chris Clements said. "We are looking forward to seeing how he can improve our program that won the GPAC last fall."
Cottage echoed a similar message in his opening remarks about coaching the team: "I am most excited about getting to work with the players and really formulating a great culture, with remembering the foundations that are already in place to challenge to win the GPAC and get back to the top of the NAIA. With such a rich history, Hastings soccer has been a pillar of NAIA soccer, and this is the standard."
Cottage comes to Hastings after previously coaching the 2024 men's soccer team at Kansas Christian College, where they went 10-3-3 and made the NCCAA National Tournament following their Regional Championship.
"Players can expect hard work and dedication to our values in order for the program to develop and achieve a winning mentality. This is through constant work on and off the field and holding myself to the highest standard. Players can also expect a coach who leads not only with a passion for the game, but also through the relationships formed throughout their time at Hastings," Cottage added.
Prior to his lone season at Kansas Christian, he was an assistant coach at Ottawa University for two years. The Braves, who had 26 wins during his tenure, made the National Tournament in 2023. He also served as the assistant coach at Bethel College from 2019-2021.
Cottage inherits a Hastings team that went 11-8-2, including 9-2-2 in their last 13 games, and earned a trip to the National Tournament with a GPAC Tournament Championship.
"Fans can expect a competitive environment where players are showcasing their amazing ability in order to make Hastings men's soccer a must-see event," Cottage concluded.
