Men's Bowling Wins Baker Game, Takes Third in Team Games of NAIA West Open
(Lawrence, KS) – The men’s bowling team won the Baker game on Sunday and took third in the teams games on Saturday by going 8-2 in match play, ending the tournament with the highest total pin count of 10,171, just ahead of Ottawa’s 10,131.

In back-to-back tournaments, Hastings has broken the five-game scoring record. On Sunday, Hastings shot 1179 in the 5-game Baker Game set with a group made up of sophomore Anthony Morella, senior Brandon Engels, senior Nathan Stinemates, sophomore Trevor Seeley, and sophomore Kaden Kuusela, winning the game by 217 pins.
Kuusela finished just outside the top 10 at 11 to lead the way for the Broncos with a pin count of 1024 and an average of 204.8 in the five games, including two rounds of over 220. Engels was right behind at 12th with a total of 1011 pins and an average of 202.2 in his five games, with a fourth game of 227.
Seeley was 23th overall to come in third for Hastings with a pin count of 986 and an average of 197.2 in the five games, including a 222 game four performance. Junior Tyler Call placed 60th with a total of 781 and an average of 195.3 in his four games, including a 224 in game two. Morella finished 80th with a total of 551 and an average of 183.7 in his three games.
Three Broncos competed in one game, as Stinemates was 99th overall at 185, freshman Colin Jaster was 102nd at 164 and sophomore Ethan Lester was 105th at 154.
Up next, Hastings will compete at the Intercollegiate Team Championships on March 8-9.
