Mustangs to Much for Broncos 53-23
Hastings - The Hastings College Bronco Football Team saw missed opportunities and turnovers hold them back as the Morningside Mustangs came out on top 53-23 on Saturday at Lloyd Wilson Field.
Morningside had not allowed more than ten points in a game this season and was averaging only giving up just over 200 yards of offense per game. The Broncos were able to find some openings behind the Mustang secondary for some big gains and truly cause some problems for that vaunted Mustang defense.
After struggling in the first half to really get anything going and trailing at the half 27-3, QB John Dostal worked the long ball in the second half as he found WR Nick Blunt for a 47-yard touchdown to cut the deficit to 33-10.
It was at this point the teams would begin trading scores and turnovers. When all was said and done, Morningside finished with 563 total yards while the Broncos finished with 423 yards of total offense. There was also a combined seven turnovers as the Broncos committed four of them.
Blunt finished the game with six receptions for 164 yards and two touchdowns. Dostal finished with 343 yards passing and three touchdowns but also threw three interceptions.
With the loss, the Broncos fall to 6-1 overall and 5-1 in conference play. The Broncos will be in action next Saturday as they will travel to Crete, NE to take on Doane College as kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
