Broncos Come From Behind to Defeat Midland 20-17
The Hastings College football team finally saw its offense get going in the fourth quarter as they completed a come from behind victory against Midland University in Fremont, NE on Saturday. The Broncos trailed 17-5 heading into the fourth quarter and came out on top 20-17.
QB John Dostal and the Bronco offense had been stymied for most of the game and then went on a drive that started on their own 18-yard line and moved it down the field taking nine plays as it was capped off when Dostal found Tyler Mertens in the end zone for a 5-yard touchdown cutting the deficit to 17-13 after converting the two-point conversion.
The Broncos would force a three and out and on its next drive the Broncos would march 52-yards on eight plays as Dostal would find Nick Blunt from 15-yards out for the go ahead touchdown, the lead and the victory.
Dostal finished the game going 20-35 for 211 yards and two touchdowns.
The Bronco defense had one of its better games holding the Warriors to just 288 yards of total offense. This defensive effort especially in the fourth quarter gave the Bronco offense a chance for the comeback and made one final stop on fourth down late in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
The Broncos will be facing its toughest test of the season as they will play host to No. 4 Morningside on Saturday October 20 at 1 p.m. at Lloyd Wilson Field.
