Women's Cross Country Finishes 2nd at Mid States
Winfield, KS - The Hastings College women's cross country team made some noise nationally by placing second at the Mid States Classic hosted by Southwestern. Columbia who is ranked No. 21 in the latest poll took first place in the meet as Hastings ranked 23rd took second and Oklahoma City who is ranked 20th took fifth.
Shania Santos (FR/Marana, AZ) led the way again for Hastings finishing sixth in a time of 18:46. Jilee Golus (FR/Bismark, ND) also finished in the top 10 by finishing 10th in a time of 19:02 while Madison Gerken (SO/McCool Junction, NE) placed 17th in a time of 19:20.
Veronica Pinkerton (SO/Beatrice, NE) finished 21st in a time of 19:35 and rounding out the scoring for the Lady Harriers is Elizabeth Baade (SO/Highlands Ranch, CO) finishing 52nd in a time of 20:51.
Hastings finished with 106 points while Columbia won the event with a score of 87 points.
HC now turns its attention to the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championship meet on Nov. 6 over in Orange City, IA
