Women's Tennis Extends Win Streak to 3 with Baker Win
(Hastings, NE) – The Broncos extended their win streak to three games on Sunday with a 6-1 victory over the Baker Wildcats.
(Hastings, NE) – The Broncos extended their win streak to three games on Sunday with a 6-1 victory over the Baker Wildcats.
With Baker competing with just four players, Hastings took the #5 and #6 singles matches, as well as being halfway to winning the doubles point. At #1 doubles, sophomores Josline Carter and Victoria Harris beat Baker, 6-1, while freshmen Cara Ansbach and Lexi Benson also won at #2 doubles, 6-1, to take the doubles point.
Baker would get their one win at #1 singles, as Harris won the first set, 6-4, but lost the second set, 6-3, before falling in the third set super-tiebreak, 10-5. Carter won her #2 singles match convincingly, 6-2, 6-1, as Hastings clinched the match.
The Broncos also won at #3 singles with Ansbach winning, 6-1, 6-3, while junior Paige Willcoxon also cruised a 6-0, 6-2 win at #4 singles to make it a 6-1 victory.
Up next, Hastings will play Division III Martin Luther College as part of their Minnesota spring break trip on Tuesday, Mar. 11 at 9am inside the University of Minnesota's Baseline Tennis Center.
