Prairie Wolves Come From Behind to Beat Broncos

Hastings got off to a good start in the match by taking the doubles point. Sophomore's Josline Carter and Victoria Harris one doubles match went to a tiebreak and they prevailed 7-3, while junior Paige Willcoxon and freshman Cara Ansbach dominated at two doubles, 6-0. The Broncos fell in three doubles, as freshmen Lexi Benson and Kayleigh Cetak lost 6-3, but the 2-1 edge gave Hastings the doubles point.
Harris and Benson got the two points in singles for the Broncos, as Harris won her two singles match in convincing 6-0, 6-0 fashion. Benson dropped her opening set at six singles, but regained her form in the second set, winning 6-3, before finding a way to win the third set tiebreak by a score of 11-9.
The Broncos came one singles match shy of securing the victory. Carter split the first two sets, but ultimately lost 11-9 in the third set tiebreak. Willcoxon got down a break in each set, falling 6-4, 6-3. Ansbach forced a first set tiebreak, but the Prairie Wolves' won the tiebreak 7-2 and took that momentum into the second set, winning 6-1. Freshman Reese Beyrouty kept it close in the five singles match, but couldn't break through, falling 7-5, 6-4.
Up next, Hastings will play an exhibition at Fort Hays State at 1pm on Tuesday, September 17th.
