Men's Wreslting Goes 1-2 at Bulldog Duals

Hastings began its day against Oklahoma Wesleyan where Andy Rojas, Jake Patterson and Cole Maschmann each picked up wins but it wouldn't be enough as the Broncos fell 27-18.
Up next for Hastings would be Central Methodist as Kavvika Aholelei pinned Zachary Godar at the 2:54 mark. Then Rojas defeated Zavien Jackson 7-3 while Maschmann picked up a tech fall victory over Justin McEnaney. Matheson Rodriquez would also pick up a win by pinning Ryan Blair at 285 but again the Broncos would come up short falling to the Eagles 34-20.
The Broncos were still looking for its first dual victory of the year and Trey Heckadon's first victory as a head coach and up next was Central Christian. Hastings began the day falling behind 12-0 with forfeits at 125 and 133. Aholelei stepped up at 141 and pinned Alexander Perez at the 1:18 mark to get HC on the board. Central Christian kept its six point lead after the teams traded forfeits. With double forfeits at 174 and 197 and Hastings getting a forfeit at 285 and 165, the match came down to Aholelei's win as one point was awarded after the match to give Hastings the 25-24 victory.
Hastings will now take the holiday season off and will be back in action Saturday Jan. 7 as the Broncos will host the Hastings Open to begin at 9:00 am inside Lynn Farrell Arena.
