Nebraska Wesleyan Outlasts Broncos, 5-2

(Hastings, NE) – Taking on Nebraska Wesleyan in an indoor home dual on Tuesday afternoon, the Broncos fell 5-2.
Nebraska Wesleyan won 6-1 at #3 doubles, but Hastings had early momentum in the other two doubles matches, as sophomore Joel Carter and freshman Aden Ingwerson held a 4-2 lead at #1 doubles and sophomores Ben Hafer and Alex Hafer led 3-0. The Prairie Wolves came back in both matches, and won 7-5 in the two matches to go up 1-0 going into singles.
Carter was able to to win 7-5 in the first set #1 singles, then breezed to a 6-0 second set victory. The Prairie Wolves won 6-3, 6-3 at #2 singles, then at #3 singles after a 6-0 first set loss and a 4-1 deficit in the second, A. Hafer came back and tied the set at four before Nebraska Wesleyan managed a 6-4 second set win.
After losing 6-0 in the first set at #5 singles, freshman Aden Ingwerson took the second set 6-2. In the third set super tiebreak, he trailed 7-2 and then 9-5, before rallying to win 11-9. Nebraska Wesleyan won at #4 and #6 singles to win it, 5-2.
Up next, Hastings will play against Wittenberg University and Maryville College on Tuesday, Mar. 10 during their spring break trip to Tennessee, at 10:30am and 1:30pm.
