#12 Bulldogs Open Second Half with a Big Run to Rout Broncos, 94-71
(Hastings, NE) – The men’s basketball returned home after a one-game road trip, losing 94-71 to #12 Concordia on Wednesday night. Hastings kept it close in the first half, trailing by five at halftime, before the Bulldogs took over in the second half with a 29-5 run.

Hastings got early baskets from juniors Myles Simon and DaRon Hall, but Concordia held a 12-5 lead less than six minutes into the game. Sophomore David Hageman came off the bench looking for a scoring punch, knocking down a three and a midrange jumper to make it 15-10 with 12:42 left in the first half.
Junior Cameron Coraggio also came in off the bench and drilled a three as the shot clock was running down, then after a Bulldog bucket, Hageman got two from the foul line to cut the lead to two at the 11:21 mark. Concordia responded offensively, going on an 11-5 run to force a timeout with 8:07 to go, leading 28-20.
After a jumper from Coraggio out of the timeout, freshman Maverick Binder and Coraggio each knocked down deep balls for a quick 8-0 run to tie it at 28. Boudreau later gave Hastings a 33-32 lead on a three-pointer at the 3:55 mark, but the Bulldogs managed to go up 45-40 at the half.
Both teams shot over 50 percent in the first half and Hastings kept it close by making 8-13 from downtown. Boudreau came off the bench to lead the Broncos in scoring at the break with 12 points, including two triples, as Hastings had 30 of its first 40 points come from non-starters.
Concordia opened the second half with a three and an alley-oop slam as part of an 8-0 run. Hall stopped the run by slithering his way to the rim for two. The Bulldogs continued their second half dominance however, scoring the next seven points, as they went on a 29-5 extended run just over eight minutes into the half to go up 74-45.
Junior Christian Pujals scored five quick points to give Hastings some life offensively and Hall scored in the midrange to make it 77-52 with 9:14 left. Pujals drilled back-to-back threes and got inside for a layup later in the half to trim the lead to 22 with 4:10 to go. Binder made it a 21-point game with the third triple in about a minute.
In the closing minutes of the game, senior Jackson McGinnis scored down low and split a pair of free throws to get the lead under 20. Concordia eventually won the game by the score of 94-71. The Bulldogs shot 59 percent in the second half and held Hastings to 33 percent.
For the game, Concordia shot 57 percent overall and 41 percent from three. Hastings shot 46 percent from three, but was held to 41 percent from the field. The Bulldogs also had a 41-29 advantage on the boards.
Pujals led Hastings in scoring with 16 off the bench and Boudreau finished the game with 12 points. Hall scored 11 points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out four assists, along with his two steals. Coraggio chipped in with 10 points off the bench as well, which ended up scoring 49 of the 71 Bronco points.
