It seemed early on like Doane was going to take a big lead, but after Hastings trailed 9-4, the Broncos began to fight back. Freshman Maverick Binder drained a three and sophomore David Hageman tied it up at 9. Trailing by five again at 14-9, Hageman scored and Binder hit again from downtown to even it up at 14 with 12:16 left in the first half.
Hastings got its first lead at the 9:47 mark on a layup from sophomore Hunter Hill, then with the game tied at 22, the Broncos went on an 11-1 run. Sophomore Ben Boudreau started the run with a steal and layup, then after a Tiger free throw, junior Christian Pujals knocked down a triple.
