Dordt Ground Game Too Much For Football
SIOUX CENTER, IOWA - Hastings Football had a lot of momentum going into their game against the Dordt Defenders on Saturday, but the Defenders proved too much in a 49-7 loss on the road to Dordt.
Both teams would come up empty in their first drives of the game, but Dordt would score first with a 47-yard rushing touchdown. On the ensuing play, Antoine Murphy would take it to the house from 95 yards out on the kickoff return to tie the game, 7-7.

Before the end of the quarter, Hastings got it up to the 26-yard line, but a 12-yard sack pushed the Broncos back. Hastings was able to get a few yards back in the second quarter, but another Dordt sack would end the drive and force Hastings to punt.
The Defenders would get another touchdown later in the second quarter to go up 28-7, and had the chance for a half-ending field goal, but would miss it. Hastings finished the half with -2 yards of offense, but had a stronger showing in the second half.

On the attempt, Dordt would block the field goal attempt, but then fumbled the ball themselves, which Hastings recovered.
