Women's Wrestling Results From York Open

Senior Tabitha Wood was the lone Bronco that competed on the open division side of the competition. Wrestling at 138, she lost her first bout to Fort Hays Tech after the first round bye by a 6-1 decision. Wood pinned Shelby Davis of Grand View at the 2:48 mark in her first consolation match, then lost her second consolation match to end her day at 1-2.
On the amateur division side, following a first round loss to Fort Hays Tech by tech fall at 180, freshman Mandy Perez regrouped to pin Southeast Community College a minute-and-a-half into the bout, then advanced to the consolation quarterfinals after a forfeit by Chadron State. She pinned her Jamestown opponent at the 1:32 mark to get to the consolation semifinals, but lost by fall to Iowa Western Community College to finish her day at 3-2.
Freshman Ruby Guerrero advanced to the second round with a bye at 117, then went on to the quarterfinals with a 10-0 tech fall win over Dakota Wesleyan. She lost by tech fall in the quarterfinals to Iowa Western and fell in her first consolation bout, ending at 2-2 on the day.
At 110, junior Rayleigh Guyer won her first match by a 10-0 tech fall to move to the semifinals. After getting pinned in the semifinal match, she fell in her first consolation bout to conclude her day 1-2.
The Broncos also got a win at 138 as junior Brianna Miller pinned her opponent from Southeast Community College at the 1:25 mark, advancing to the quarterfinals. Miller lost by fall to Waldorf in the quarterfinal, then got pinned in her first consolation match to end her day at 1-2.
At 145, freshman Aubrey Sharbono dropped her first match to Iowa Western Community College, but managed to pin her opponent from Missouri Valley almost four minutes into the match before falling in her second consolation match, finishing 1-2.
Up next, the Broncos will compete at the Warrior Women's Open on Saturday, Jan. 25 in Fort Wayne, IN, beginning at 9am.
