Avila and Bryant Earn GPAC Player of the Week Honors
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) announced that Macy Bryant has been awarded the Women’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week and Mariyah Avila has been named the Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for January 27-February 2, 2025.
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) announced that Macy Bryant has been awarded the Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week and Mariyah Avila has been named the Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for January 27-February 2, 2025.
Bryant was a perfect 8-for-8 while putting up 22 points against Mount Marty. She was 3-of-3 from behind the arc and grabbed six rebounds. In the Broncos 91-83 upset win over undefeated and NAIA top-ranked Dordt, she scored 10 points and grabbed five boards. For the week, she averaged 16 points on 78 percent shooting from the field (71 percent from three), 5.5 rebounds and 2 steals.
Avila recorded eight steals during the week, including six of the Broncos 26 turnovers forced in a 91-83 upset win over undefeated and top-ranked Dordt. She also averaged 17 points on 52 percent shooting, going 42 percent from long range.
The Broncos will host Mount Marty at 5pm on Wednesday, February 5th at Lynn Farrell Arena.
