Men's Wrestling Competes at Grand View Open
(Grimes, IA) – The Hastings men’s wrestling team competed at the Grand View Open in Grimes, IA on Saturday.

Sophomore Creel Weber pinned his first two opponents at 125 in the freshman/sophomore division, then after falling in the third round, he was able to win four matches on the consolation side before falling in his final match.
Sophomore Logan Hackman and sophomore Justin Rodriguez each won their first match at 133 in the freshman/sophomore division, then after falling in their second matches, Rodriguez won two matches and Hackman got one win.
Freshman Gant Browning competed at 141 in the freshman/sophomore division, losing his first match after his first round bye, then lost in his first consolation match. Sophomore Sebastian Macedo also competed in the 141 freshman/sophomore division, losing his first match, then going 1-1 in consolation. In the 141 open, junior Dalton Michael lost both of his matches.
Junior Israel Manriquez lost both of his matches in the 157 open division. Sophomore Nicholas Freeland won his first two matches at 165 in the freshman/sophomore division, then after losing in a 16-13 decision, he fell in his first consolation match.
Freshmen Esteban Sedano went 1-1 on the top side of the 174 freshman/sophomore division, but managed to get a couple of wins on the consolation side. Junior Keenan Griffin lost both of his matches in the 174 freshman/sophomore division.
Sophomore Trevor Leon lost his first match after his open round bye of the 184 freshman/sophomore division, then managed a couple of wins on the consolation side, including over freshman teammate Conall Liburdi, wrestling after their opening round match defeats.
Junior Matheson Rodriguez and freshman Aiden Griffin lost both of their matches in the 197 freshman/sophomore division. Freshman Koen Mattern pinned his first opponent in the 285 freshman/sophomore division, then after losing in the second round, he was able to pick up a win on the consolation side.
Up next, Hastings will host Concordia in their first home dual of the season on Friday, Nov. 22 in the Kiewit Gymnasium.
