Men's Track and Field Results from Concordia Invitational

Sophomore Evan Struss won the 1000m and moved into fourth in school history with a time of 2:32.91. Senior Deshawn Burks was right behind in second place at 2:33.65, while senior Tyler Salter was sixth at 2:41.64.
Junior Kaiden Merryman raced to a third-place finish in the 200m at 22.46. Junior Noah Hudnall was fifth at 23.33 and freshman August Phye was 12th at 24.33. Senior Sam Wise collected fourth place in the 3000m race walk, finishing with a 'B-Standard' time of 14:51.10.
In the 60m final, senior Tanner-James Friend finished sixth at 7.08. In the 400m, junior Zane Eggleston took seventh with a time of 51.81 and Phye took ninth with a time of 52.79. Freshman Gareth Szabo placed seventh in the 3000m at 9:46.40.
Freshman Corey Fields took 14th at 2:04.99 in the 800m, while freshman Henry Yazzie was 16th at 2:07.22 and freshman Jordael Hernandez was 20th at 2:13.24. In the 600m, freshman Ben Mages placed 14th at 1:31.97.
In the field events, sophomore Jack Scrivner placed eighth in the long jump, reaching 6.58m. Also in the long jump, senior Chance Elwood was 12th (6.27m), sophomore Cody Defeo was 13th (6.26m), Hudnall was 17th (5.72m), and freshman Alex Reynolds was 19th (5.24m).
Defeo also finished in eighth place in the triple jump with a top leap of 12.47m. Elwood finished 10th in the high jump, reaching 1.79m. In the pole vault, Reynolds was 13th at 3.16m.
In the shot put, sophomore Jorge Vazquez was 14th (13.51m), senior Edward Holly placed 16th (13.29m), freshman Oliver Janik was 17th (11.48m) and junior Titus Glanz was 18th (11.34m). In the weight throw, Janik was 19th (12.97m), Glanz was 20th (12.41m), and freshman Ryan Oberg was 22nd (12.03m).
Up next, Hastings will compete at the GPAC Indoor Championships in Sioux Center, IA on Feb. 20 and 21, starting at 1pm on Friday.
