Broncos Battle at Charlie Foster Classic

(Kearney, NE) – The men's track and field team competed in Kearney at the Charlie Foster Classic on Friday, with a few Broncos competing at the Concordia Classic on Saturday.
At the Concordia Classic, sophomore Evan Struss, sophomore Parker Graves, senior Deshawn Burks, and senior Tyler Salter won the 4x800m relay with an 'A-Standard' time of 7:49.11, setting a meet record and coming within three second of breaking their record from last year.
At the Charlie Foster Classic, junior Kaiden Merryman won the 60m final with a 'B-Standard' time of 6.76, winning the final by a full tenth of a second and setting a new school record by a hundredth of a second. Also in the 60m final, senior Tanner-James Friend finished seventh (7.20).
In the 400m, junior Zane Eggleston raced to a second place finish time of 53.65. Struss was third in the 800m at 1:55.36, which broke his personal record and puts him in fourth place in school history, while Burks was sixth at 1:58.71. Also in the 800m, Graves was ninth (1:59.31), Salter was 12th (2:01.87), freshman Corey Fields was 16th (2:06.62), and freshman Ben Mages was 17th (2:07.18). Back at the Concordia Classic, senior Sam Wise was fourth in the 3000m race walk with a 'B-Standard' time of 14:54.87.
Sophomore Jack Scrivner reached the finals of the 60m hurdles, where he took sixth (8.98). In the 200m, junior Noah Hudnall was ninth at 24.37. In the mile, freshman Jordael Hernandez was 12th at 4:53.45, freshman Henry Yazzie was 14th at 4:58.96, freshman Thomas Thomas was 15th (5:00.19), and freshman Xavier Roderiques was 16th (5:08.75).
In the field events, Scrivner was runner-up in the long jump with a best jump of 21'09.00". Also in the long jump, sophomore Cody Defeo took ninth (20'04.25"), senior Chance Elwood placed 12th (19'03.50") and freshman Alex Reynolds was 12th (19'03.50"). Defeo also finished in eighth place in the triple jump with a top leap of 41'08.75". Reynolds also placed eighth in the pole vault at 9'11.25". Elwood placed ninth in the high jump, reaching 5'10.50".
In the weight throw, senior David Beadle took third in the event with a throw of 52'02.75". Also in the weight throw, freshman Oliver Janik was 14th (42'02.00), junior Titus Glanz was 18th (39'07.75"), and freshman Ryan Oberg was 23rd (36'02.25"). In the shot put, sophomore Jorge Vazquez was seventh (44'09.75"), Oberg was 11th (42'08.75"), and Glanz was 15th (39'06.00").
