Men's Track and Field Results from Dutcher Memorial and Kansas Relays
(Crete, NE & Lawrence, KS) - The men’s track and field team went to Doane on Wednesday through Friday to compete at the John Green Combined events, as well as the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, KS on Thursday and Friday.
(Crete, NE & Lawrence, KS) - The men's track and field team went to Doane on Wednesday through Friday to compete at the John Green Combined events, as well as the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, KS on Thursday and Friday.
Sophomore Rafer Severson participated in the decathlon, taking sixth overall. In the 1500m, he placed second with a time of 4:42.80. In the 400m, he placed third again with a 50.87 second run. In the 100m he placed fifth with a time of 11.30. In the 110m hurdles, he took seventh with 18.70. Starting with the field events, in the discus he placed 12th with a throw of 24.57m. In the high jump, he placed third with 1.85m and in the long jump he took fourth with a jump of 6.93m. In the pole vault, he took a fifth place finish with a height of 3.75m. Wrapping up the decathlon, in the javelin throw he placed tenth with a 37.38m throw.
In the Thursday field events, starting with the javelin throw, senior Evan Morara placed fifth with a 48.43m throw and freshman Tanner-James Friend took sixth place with 43.53m. In the hammer throw senior Payton Lane took 15th place with a throw of 44.19m. Freshman Trey Parriott placed 19th with 41.00m and sophomore Titus Glanz placed 23rd with 37.56m.
In the Jim Dutcher Friday field events, starting with the high jump, senior Brady Creech took fourth with a jump of 2.01m and junior Markus Vigil placed ninth with a 1.81m jump. In the long jump, freshman Cody Defeo took sixth with a 6.41m jump. Defeo also placed fourth in the triple jump with a 12.67m. Also placing in the event was freshman Spencer Hille who jumped 6.03m to place him in ninth and Friend placed 12th with a 5.41m. In the men's discus, Morara took 14th with 41.41m and Glanz placed 20th with 37.35m. Parriott also placed 12th in the triple jump with 13.26m, Morara took 17th (12.45m), and Glanz placed 19th (11.06m).
Moving into the running events, in the 400m sophomore Zane Eggleston took eighth with a time of 51.76. In the 800m sophomore Will Grable placed eighth with a time of 2:03.71. In the 200m sophomore Noah Hudnall placed ninth with 23.81. Also placing in the event was freshman Adrian Lobeda who took tenth with 24.09.
At the Kansas Relays, junior Tyler Salter took sixth in the 800m. He ran a time of 1:56.79 which was only 0.66 seconds out of third place. Freshman Evan Struss also placed 11th in the event with 1:58.09. Lastly, placing in the event was junior Deshawn Burks, who took 18th (1:59.12).
In the 4x800m relay Salter, Struss, Burks, and freshman Parker Graves placed ninth with a combined time of 7:57.41.
The team goes to Lincoln, NE next to compete at the NWU Prairie Wolf Invite on April 24th.
