Men's Tennis Gains Experience at Fall GPAC Invite
(Lincoln, NE) – The Bronco men’s tennis team traveled to Lincoln to take part in the annual Fall GPAC Invite on Friday and Saturday.
(Lincoln, NE) – The Bronco men's tennis team traveled to Lincoln to take part in the annual Fall GPAC Invite on Friday and Saturday.
In the 'A' singles section, senior Nick Smeltzer lost 8-3 to Concordia in the round of 32, then following a couple of byes in the consolation bracket, he lost 6-2 to Northwestern in the consolation quarterfinals. In the 'B' singles section, junior Ethan Mins lost 8-2 to Midland in the round of 16, then lost 6-1 to Concordia in the consolation quarterfinals.
In the 'C' singles section, freshman Ben Hafer won his first match 8-6 over Midland in the round of 16, then lost 8-2 to Mount Marty in the quarterfinals. Freshman Alex Hafer lost his lone singles match 8-2 to Doane.
In the 'D' singles section, freshman Ethan Zimmerman lost his only match 8-2 to Mount Marty in the round of 32. Freshman Conner George received a bye in the round of 32, then lost his first match 8-1 to Northwestern. He received a win in the consolation round of 16 after his opponent withdrew due to injury.
In the 'A' doubles section, Smeltzer and Mins lost 6-0 to Concordia. In the 'B' doubles section, Hafer and Hafer lost 6-1 to Mount Marty. In the 'C' singles doubles section, Zimmerman and George lost 6-0 to Mount Marty.
The Broncos will be back in action at the Bronco Invite in Hastings on Friday, Oct. 4 and 5.
