Senior Throwers Earn All-American Honors
Hastings College took two spots in the top eight in the weight throw on Day 2 of the NAIA National Indoor Track Championship in Brookings, South Dakota.
Seniors, Tyler Summers (SR/Hastings, NE) and Justin Villars (SR/Minden, NE) earned All-American honors for the Broncos in the Weight Throw. Summer's best toss of 19.26m earned him fifth-place in the event and Villars' best throw of 18.64 earned him sixth-place. Those finishes earned Hastings seven team points.
Tomorrow will be the final day of the three-day event and the Broncos have three athletes vying for individual honors and chances to improve the team's overall score. Junior, Juba McClary will be defending his 2021 NAIA Triple Jump Championship. Villars, will try to earn All-American honors in another throwing event, this time the Shot Put. Senior Lane Knisley (SR/North Platte, NE) will be in the finals in the Pole Vault.
There will be a total of 15 national titles to be crowned on Saturday. The meet kicks off at 12:35 p.m. with the 1-mile run. The men's field events are set to start at 2 pm. with the shot-put, pole vault at 1:15 p.m., and triple jump at 1:30 p.m.
