In the seven games on Friday, Kuusela had a score of 1550 and was 10th among all 165 bowlers on day one, averaging 221.43, including the last six games over 200. In the seven day two games on Saturday, he finished at 1386, registering five games over 200, for a combined total of 2936 through the 14 games. That score put him at 31st among the competitors, putting him above the 32-person cut line.
In bracket play on Sunday, he began by beating the #2 qualifier, 514-398. He followed that up with a 527-483 win over the #18 qualifier and a narrow 443-430 win over the #7 qualifier. In the semifinals of the winners bracket on Monday, he lost 528-478 to the #22 qualifier, before falling in a competitive 545-500 game to the #12 qualifier in the semifinals of the elimination bracket.
The top six finish caps Kuusela's outstanding season in which he was named the KCAC Men's Bowler of the Year and was named to the KCAC All-Conference First Team.
