Molifua Steps Down, Jordan Smith Takes Over
Mikaelah Molifua has resigned as Head Cheer and Dance Coach at Hastings College effective immediately. Molifua's resignation comes as she is continuing to battle health related issues. She has been head coach of the team the past two season. She is a former HC cheerleader and softball player and 2018 graduate.
"Mikaelah's efforts to coach while battling severe health issues has been a remarkable testament to her courage and work ethic," said Director of Athletics B.J. Pumroy. "She has been a beacon of bravery for the entire campus and we are sad that she has to step down to focus on continuing her fight."
Molifua was a back-to-back GPAC Champion back in 2015 and 2016 as an athlete on the cheerleading squad. Last year, Molifua was named GPAC Coach of the Year while coaching two honorable mention all-conference members.
"Mikaelah has been an inspiration to the entire HC community with her never give up attitude and infectious smile that she always wears," said Ron Hergott, Director of Lifetime Sports, who provided administrative oversight to the teams. "Mikaelah did a wonderful job as the cheer/dance coach and we all want to wish her the absolute best in the future."
Taking over as the Broncos Head Coach of Cheer and Dance for the 2020 season will be Jordan Smith. Smith is a former stunt coordinator for the cheer team in 2017-18. As an undergraduate he was a cheerleader at South Dakota State University.
