Women's Track and Field Results from UNK
Kearney - The Hastings College women's track and field team took part in the University of Nebraska Invitational and here are the results.
Nisa Thomas (SO/Elizabeth City, NC) brought home the gold in the 100 hurdles in a time of 14:34 which is an "A" standard qualifying time. She set the school record just last week in a time of 14:04. Rhys Maxey (SO/Kersey, CO) finished fifth in a time of 15.56.
In the women's 4x100m relay, the Lady Broncos also brought home the gold in an "A" standard qualifying time of 47.34. The team consists of Julyah Wilson (SR/Aurora, CO), Lauren Tamayo (SR/Ralston, NE), Karson Sears and Daisy Maessner (SR/Kearney, NE). This same group holds the school record at 46.59.
Sears would go on to finish first in the women's long jump with an "A" standard qualifying jump of 5.80m. Maessner finished third with a mark of 5.55m and Tamayo finished fourth with a mark of 5.55m. Ikea Cuff would finish seventh with a mark of 5.18m
In the women's 3000m steeplechase, Madison Gerken (SO/McCool Junction, NE) took the gold in a time of 12:06 which is the fifth fastest time in school history while Landry Hinkson (SO/Cottonwood Falls, KS) brought home the bronze in a time of 12:35 with the seventh fastest time in school history.
Maessner finished second in the women's triple jump with a "B" standard qualifying leap of 11.52m while Cuff finished fourth with a mark of 10.63m
Kiara Anderson (JR/Mesa, AZ) finished third in the women's discus with a "B" standard qualifying throw of 43.89m. She then went on to finish seventh in the women's hammer with a "B" standard qualifying throw of 49.96m.
In the women's 400m run, Wilson finished third in a time of 1:00 while Veronica Pinkerton (SO/Beatrice, NE) placed fifth in a time of 1:01, Thomas finished sixth in a time of 1:02 and Maxey finished seventh in a time of 1:03.
Pinkerton woud go on to finish fifth in the 1500m run in a time of 5:00.
The women's track and field team will focus its attention on the Jim Dutcher Invitational set for Apr. 21-23 which is hosted by Doane University in Crete, NE.
