(Hastings, NE) – Hastings College Athletic Director Chris Clements announced today that Gabriel Escalera has been named as the head men's and women's golf coach for the Hastings Broncos. Good will remain as an assistant coach for the remainder of the 2025-26 season during the transition.
"We are grateful for the program that Skyler has built since he took over and appreciate that he will remain on to help Gabriel in his first season. Gabriel had a great playing career here, and we look forward to seeing how he can continue to improve the program," Clements said.
With Good leading the way, the men's golf team finished seventh in the GPAC in each of his first three years, but jumped up to place second last season and moved into the NAIA Top 25 polls for the first time in school history. Since taking over in 2021, Good has had 10 All-GPAC honorees, seven on the men's team and three on the women's team.
"Gabe has been an integral part of our program for the past five years, first as an outstanding player, then as an assistant coach, and now holding the reins of the program as head coach," Good said. "He understands the culture, the standard, and the work ethic it takes to succeed here. He knows what it takes to win here because he's lived it. Our student-athletes respect him, believe in him, and will respond to his passion and vision for the future. I have complete confidence that he will continue building on the foundation we've established."
Escalera, who served as an assistant coach in the fall and has worked at Lochland Country Club as a Pro-Shop attendant for three years, finished third as a junior at conference in 2024 and was second in his senior season, just two strokes behind first place. His five-under at the GPAC Tournament in 2025 tied for the best finish in Hastings history since 2015 and earned him a spot on the GPAC All-Tournament Team. Escalera was recognized on the All-GPAC Teams in each of his four years.
"I'm very grateful for this opportunity to build on the strong foundation already in place and continue pushing this program forward," Escalera said "I'm also looking forward to developing the younger players so that they can play golf to their full potential. My athletes can expect a competitive environment that will test their preparation. The hard work will be done so that our fans can witness a team that competes with confidence and good sportsmanship."
