Wetteland and Lukowicz All-Conference; Cook Honorable Mention
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The 2018 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Cheer and Dance All-Conference Team has been selected. This is the first year that the GPAC is naming All-Conference performers for Cheer and Dance.
Elaria Walker from Hastings was selected as the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Cheer Athlete-of-the-Year and Marlando Sparks from Midland has been selected as the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Dance Athlete-of-the-Year. Walker was also selected as the Cheer Freshman-of-the-Year, while Genevieve Kroese from Midland was the Dance Freshman-of-the-Year.
To be selected to the All-Conference teams the student-athletes needed to perform a set of skills as outlined by the NAIA Cheer and Dance Coaches' Handbook. A minimum score on these skills (as judged) was required for selection to the teams.
Ashley Lyon from Doane and Nikki Kimura from Hastings were named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Cheer Coaches-of-the-Year. Nikki Kimura from Hastings and Alisha Steckler from Morningside were named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Dance Coaches-of-the-Year.
The Midland Cheer and Dance teams won the GPAC Championships on Saturday, February 10, at Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska.
