Bio

Victor Rojas was named Head Coach of the Hastings College Baseball Program in May 2025, bringing a wealth of experience as a player, coach, and front-office executive.

Prior to arriving at Hastings, Rojas served as the Assistant Head Coach & Recruiting Coordinator at Ottawa University - Arizona. His responsibilities included running the offense and overseeing catchers for the entire program. In his first season, the Spirit set new team records for batting average, OPS, doubles, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, fewest strikeouts and stolen bases.

Rojas’s collegiate playing career included College of the Desert—where he still holds the season and career home run records—Piedmont College and Lewis-Clark State College. He began his professional playing career in 1990 with the California Angels organization, transitioning to a closer role and earning Minor League All-Star honors in the Arizona League.

His coaching career began in 1993 as a bullpen catcher with the Florida Marlins Major League Baseball staff. In 1994, he served as a player/coach in the Texas-Louisiana League, blending on-field performance with coaching duties. Most recently, he coached several seasons of travel baseball in Texas, culminating in a successful summer with a 17U team in 2022 (each member of that squad went on to play college baseball).

After leaving the professional playing/coaching field behind in 1995, Rojas transitioned into front-office leadership with positions spanning Arena League Football’s Anaheim Piranhas, Minor League Baseball with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, the NHL’s Florida Panthers, arena management, and professional golf instruction.

In 2001, Rojas began his broadcasting career with the Newark Bears, where he ultimately held the dual roles of General Manager and broadcaster. After two successful seasons in Newark (two finals and one championship), he launched an 18-year career in the Major League Baseball broadcast booth, with roles covering the Arizona Diamondbacks, Texas Rangers, MLB Network, and Los Angeles Angels. His time with the Angels included 11 seasons as their television play-by-play voice, earning him a Los Angeles Area Emmy in 2018. After retiring from broadcasting in 2021, he served as President and General Manager of the Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, for two seasons.

Since 2022, Rojas has worked for ESPN as play-by-play broadcaster for College Baseball. He has covered ACC, SEC, Big XII conference games as well as the Big XII conference tournament along with Regional & Super Regional action.

Victor and his wife Kimberly have three children and one grandchild. Their daughter Brianna and granddaughter RJ live in Southern California, their daughter Mattingly resides in Phoenix, and their son Tyler plays collegiate baseball and will transfer to play at Hastings College, coming from Johnson University in Knoxville, Tenn.
