Fremont- After waiting for the women's soccer game to conclude, the Hastings College men's soccer team handled the Midland Warriors 2-0 on Tuesday.
The Broncos (10-3,5-0 GPAC) and the Warriors (7-5,3-1 GPAC) did not have much offense until Hastings took the first shot of the game in the 28th minute, a goal by Daniel Simonis (FR/Dettenheim, Germany), assisted by Nick Hinds (SR/Lincoln, NE) gave the Broncos a 1-0 lead that stood for the rest of the first half.
In the 64th minute, Simonis connected with Daniel Whitehall (JR/Warrington, England) who gave the Broncos a 2-0 lead with his 14th goal on the season.
Shortly after Whitehall's goal, Whitehall was issued his second yellow card and a red card. Damien Austen (SR/Kearney, NE) was also issued his second yellow card and a red card. Despite these ejections, Hastings was able to hold Midland to two shots and hold on to their 2-0 lead.
Both the Broncos and Warriors tallied four shots each, all being on goal. Both teams also had issues with cards, as Hastings was issued nine cards along with five to Midland.
The Broncos are back in action again on Saturday when the Mount Marty Lancers come to town for a 4:15 p.m. match.
