Hastings, NE - The Hastings College women's soccer team had its way with the Doane Tigers winning the Great Plains Athletic Conference game 7-0 on Tuesday night at Lloyd Wilson Field.
The game really seemed over from the kick as Hastings would take just 30 seconds to get on the board as Gabriella DiDio (SR/Maple, Ontario) hit a cross over the keeper that found Janine Lahey (JR/Colorado Springs, CO) at the back post for the easy 1-0 lead.
DiDio and Lahey teamed up on the other side of the field as the cross would eventually be put away by Courtney Doeschot (FR/Omaha, NE) off the outside of her foot for the 2-0 lead in the 11th minute.
In similar fashion to her goal on Saturday only this time from straight on, she hit her shot perfectly over the outstretched hands of the keepeer and into the goal for the 3-0 lead in the 21st minute.
In the 25th minute, Heidi Bartsch (SR/Lincoln, NE) got in on the action with a nice finish off the feeds from Lahye and DiDio to push the lead to 4-0.
The Broncos finished up the first half with another goal from Berkley Sharp (FR/Basehor, KS) off the tandom Sally Stoltenberg (SO/Gretna, NE) and Lahey assist for the 5-0 lead at the break.
Hastings added to more goals in the second half from Olivia McMahon (FR/Omaha, NE) in the 47th minute and a golf from Chloe Swoboda (SO/Hastings, NE) in the 74th minute to round out the scoring.
Hastings finished the night with 29 total shots and 17 shots on goal while Doane mustered just two total shots. This was the Broncos eighth shutout of the season.
The Broncos move to 9-1-1 (3-0) on the season and will be back in action Saturday Oct. 7 hitting the road to take on Dakota Wesleyan with kick-off set for 4:00 p.m. in Mitchell, SD.
