Baldwin City, Kans.- Despite outshooting the No. 6 ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles 13-10 overall and 6-3 on goal, the Hastings College men's soccer team dropped their match against the Eagles 1-0 on Monday in Baldwin City.
The Broncos (2-2) got the offense going with Daniel Simonis (FR/Dettenheim, Germany), Lucas Venegas (SR/Grand Island, NE), Murilo Ceruli (SR/Sao Paulo, Brazil), and Nick Hinds (SR/Lincoln, NE) all tallying shots in the first half, but were matched with four shots by the Eagles (3-0) en route to a scoreless tie into halftime.
In the second half, the Broncos came out strong with early shots by Daniel Whitehall (JR/Warrington, England) and Brayant Toro (SO/Cali, Colombia), but could not capitalize. Both teams traded shots throughout the second half before the Eagles' Julio Belo connected with the net in the 83rd minute to take a late 1-0 lead over the Broncos.
Hastings looks to turn the tide when they return home to host the No. 3 ranked Grand View (Iowa) University Vikings on Thursday at 7 p.m.
