Gulf Shores, AL - The Hastings College women's track and field team took 15 athletes to the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championship finishing 7th out of 68 teams.
Teeka Thompson (SR/Columbia Heights, MN) brought home her first ever national title in the discus with a mark of 48.86m which bettered the field by nearly two meters. Keely Parish (SO/Longmont, CO) finished 7th with a mark of 45.96m and is also an All-American.
Anna Megenhardt (SR/Berthoud, CO) finished 3rd in the pole vault with a vault of 3.85m as she finishes up her career at Hastings with another All-American mark.
Shantinique Cunningham (SO/Glendale, AZ) finished 5th in the long jump! She hit a personal best 5.86m (19-2.75) and brings home another All-American honor. In addition to Shant finishing 5th in the women's long jump Rae Markle (FR/Hastings, NE) was 12th with a jump of 5.63m (18' 5.75")
HC's first All-American of the meet goes to Sara Olsen (JR/Blair, NE) in the hammer throw as she finished 8th with a toss of 50.51m. In addition to Sara finishing 8th in the women's hammer Eboni Nash (SO/Eads, CO) was 14th 48.54m, Nicole Ramaekers (JR/Norfolk, NE) was 23rd 46.66m and Kelbie Lyon (SO/Doniphan, NE) DNP.
All-Americans 5, 6, and 7 in the women's shot put! Sara Olsen 4th (14.35m) Kelbie Lyon 6th (14.25m) and Eboni Nash 8th (14.02m).
HC women's 4x100 relay (Shantinique Cunningham, Olivia Berks (FR/Lincoln, NE), April Faimon (SR/Lawrence, NE), Caitlyn Cotton (FR/Omaha, NE)) ran 47.44 which was a season best. but they just missed out on finals.
Caitlyn Cotton finished 15th in the 200m dash with a time of 24.85.
April Faimon finished 13th in the heptathlon with a score of 4233
Olivia Berks runs a PR of 14.34 in the 100m hurdles to finish 11th.
In the women's 10K Janelle Bethea (JR/Peoria, AZ) finished 12th with a time of 37:55.
Cunningham finished 15th in the women's triple jump with a leap of 11.31m (37' 1.25")
The women finish the meet in 7th place with 32 points and eight All-Americans.
