Johnson City, TN - The Hastings College men's and women's track and field teams finished up at nationals with 10 total All-Americans as the women finished 8th and the men finished 22nd.
Following her national title from yesterday, Sara Olsen (JR/Blair, NE) added another All-American honor to her resume as she finished seventh in the shot put with a mark of 13.69m (44' 11").
Kelbie Lyon (SO/Doniphan, NE) led the way in the shot put for the women as she finished third with a mark of 14.22m (46' 8") and Teeka Thompson (SR/Columbia Heights, MN) also added All-America status to her resume as she finished sixth with a toss of 13.76m (45' 1.75").
On the men's side, Alex Wellington brough home his second All-American honor as he finished third in the shot put with a mark of 17.46m (57' 3.5"). Wellington scored 11 points for the men helping them to a 22nd place finish.
The women nearly over took the Concordia Bulldogs but Shantinique Cunningham (SO/Glendale, AZ) just missed out on the finals of the 60m dash. She had the 8th fastest time in qualifying but because two slower times won their heat, she was left out which could have helped the Lady Broncos surpass Concordia as Hastings finished 0.5 points behind the Bulldogs.
Cunningham also finished ninth in the triple jump just missing out on placing and scoring more points. That would have also meant two more All-Americans to add to her resume.
